Practicing minimalism in the decoration of your spaces

Minimalism is a trend of decorating with the fewest number of elements possible, and basic with the goal of earning on functionality, simplicity and space. Accommodate only what is considered as strictly necessary and basic. Within this style we can say that there are three fundamental pillars on which you are going to support it all.

  • On the one hand we have the fact to reduce to the maximum of everything that has to do with artistic elements. For example, boxes and those items which hang on the walls.
  • The decorative elements that are to be located on a piece of furniture should be reduced to the minimum expression that recharge in excess in the aggregate and will not be achieved that feeling of spaciousness that is so necessary in this case.
  • The environment that is built must be useful, usable, simple, with precision on the finish, details, and geometry is essential and rectilinear. You can say that the space you want to decorate it must be to live it, and not to install furniture.

Below, I share some tips:

  1. Before starting to decorate, a common practice of the professionals of this area is to first make a review of knowledge, by asking three key points:

  • With what purpose you use the space that I’m going to decorate, and what activities are to be carried out.
  • How you are going to enjoy that space and what to usual activities are going to be practicing on the same.
  • How many people are going to participate in that space. If you will be the whole family, whether it is a room for sleep only, if it is an area of work…etc,
  1. There is a false belief that everything we buy is usually more economical than what is made to measure. In reality, there is always this way, it is preferable to seek the advice of a professional in the area of decoration.

  1. In the case of houses or apartments, a good idea would be to start from the room and go forth to the rest of the spaces. Keep in mind that the living room is the place where you pass more time, and therefore it is more attention to pay.

  1. In any area, we must try by all means to eliminate those elements that only serve as ornamentation. The space is vital and we should be leading in every corner of the same.

  1. In kitchens minimalist modern must prioritize and merge aesthetics with functionality. Spaces clean of objects, spacious, with light colors, preferably white, and shades in furniture and cabinets, and without ornamentation.

  1. If we seek a bath minimalist, it is ideal to have smooth walls so avoid distorting the perfection of the face, in case we can’t use large tiles that decrease the joints. In the case of the soil, avoid to use coatings that have together to have a sense of continuity to the same style as the walls, although the use of wood – parquet is perfect for the feeling of warmth in the bathroom.

  1. In terms of colors, it is always recommended that you choose monochromatic colors, that is to say, the tones that do not differ greatly from each other. Otherwise, it can fall into the mistake of creating a space with many contrasts and therefore very shrill, which also give the feeling of being in front of a very small space.

  1. For decorating small rooms with the colors have a point in mind, if the ceilings are low, it should paint a light-coloured, preferably white, and will give you a sense of spaciousness in the room.

  2. To decorate the large rooms with high ceilings, must give a visual to be more coherent to the space as well as trick, we will paint the ceiling with two shades darker than the walls. A visual effect that favors the space to perfection.

Some materials recommended materials are steel or wood (noble materials), since they convey a sense of sobriety really interesting.

Leonardo da Vinci said “simplicity is The ultimate sophistication”. And there is to recognize that there are pieces of furniture that following this line, and after 80 years of their arrival, they have not lost one iota of today.

Sobriety, order, and highlight the architectural details are the key tips to a good interior design for the trend of less is more.
